DIESEL MECHANIC
PART-TIME & FULL-TIME
About the Role
As a Diesel Mechanic at American Arborist, you’ll keep our operation running strong from the ground up. You’ll be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing the trucks and equipment our crews rely on every day—from chip trucks and bucket trucks to skid steers and trailers.
This role is critical to keeping our team efficient, safe, and on schedule. If you take pride in solving problems, working with your hands, and keeping equipment in top shape, this is your lane.
Other responsibilities:
Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on diesel trucks and heavy equipment
Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, filters, brakes, hydraulics, etc.)
Inspect equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation
Repair and maintain aerial lift equipment (bucket trucks) and chippers
Keep accurate service and maintenance records
Work closely with operations team to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
Requirements
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check
Reliable transportation
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
PREFERRED BUT NOT RequireD
Experience working on diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks
CDL (Class A or B, ideally with air brakes)
Experience with hydraulic systems and aerial equipment
Familiarity with tree care equipment (chippers, bucket trucks, etc.)
Experience with small engine repair (chainsaws, blowers, etc.)
